The resultant is 60 more than its one-third

3y/4 – 60 = y/3 ________ (i)

Value of y can be find out easily from equation (i) by just simplifying it (y = 144).

Solution

Let suppose

Number = y

According to the given condition

3y/4 – 60 = y/3

3y – 240 = 4y/3

3(3y – 240) = 4y

9y – 720 = 4y

9y – 4y = 720

5y = 720

y = 720/5

y = 144

Required Number = 144 answer
