Mr Faheem has Dinner with His Family at a Restaurant which Offers a 10% Discount on Food. The Marked Price of the Food that They Order was Rs. 15000/-. Given that there was a Service Charges of 10% and GST is 17%, Calculate the Total Amount of Money He has to Pay.

Following things are given.

  • Marked price of food (Rs. 15000).
  1. Price of food will be calculated, after applying 10% discount.
  2. 17% GST on price of food would be figure on actual price not discounted one.
  3.  10% service charges on the price of food will be determined on the discounted price.
  4. Total amount that he needed to pay can be find out by adding “price of food after applying 10% discount (calculated in step 1), 17% GST (calculated in step 2) and 10% service charges (calculated in step 3).

To Find

Total amount of money = ?

Solution

Marked price of food = 15000

10% discount

10% of 15000 = (15000 x 10)/100

10% of 15000 = 1500

Amount after 10% discount on food = 15000 – 1500

Amount after 10% discount on food = 13500 ________ (1)

17% GST

17% of 15000 = (15000 x 17)/100

17% of 13500 = 2550 ________ (2)

Bill after the 17% GST

Bill after 17% GST = 13500 + 2550 = Rs. 16050

10% service charges

10% of 13500 = (13500 x 10)/100

10% of 13500 = 1350 ________ (2)

Total amount

Total amount that he needed to pay = 13500 + 2550 + 1350

Total amount that he needed to pay = Rs. 17400 answer

Conclusion

Mr Faheem has dinner with his family at a restaurant which offers a 10% discount on food. The marked price of the food that they order was Rs. 15000/-. Given that there was a service charges of 10% and GST is 17%, the total amount of money that he has to pay is Rs. 17374.5
