Four Milkmen Rented a Pasture. A Grazed 24 Cows for 3 Months, B 10 Cows for 5 Months, C 35 Cows for 4 Months and D 21 Cows for 3 Months. If A’s Share of Rent is Rs. 720, Find the Total Rent of the Field?

What are you looking for? Let’s dig in quickly

Explanation

Four milkmen rented a pasture

  • A grazed 24 cows for 3 months
  • B grazed 10 cows for 5 months
  • C grazed 35 cows for 4 months
  • And D grazed 21 cows for 3 months

Firs we’ll calculate the total share ratio of A, B, C and D by multiplying 24 with 3, 10 with 5, 35 with 4 and 21 with 3 respectively.

Now by substituting A’s share of rent (720), As, share ratio (72) and total ratio (325) in the formula mentioned below;

A’s share of rent = (A’s share ratio x total rent) / total ratio

It gives total rent Rs. 3250.

To Find

Total rent = ?

Solution

Let suppose; total rent = y

Total ratio of A, B, C and D = 24 x 3 : 10 x 5 : 35 x 4 : 21 x 3

A : B : C : D = 72 : 50 : 140 : 63 (and 72 + 50 + 140 + 63 = 325)

A’s share of rent = (A’s share ratio x total rent) / total ratio

720 = (72 x y)/325

720 x 325 = 72 x y

234000 = 72 x y

234000/72 = y

y = Rs. 3250 answer

Conclusion

Four milkmen rented a pasture. A grazed 24 cows for 3 months, B 10 cows for 5 months, C 35 cows for 4 months and D 21 cows for 3 months. If A’s share of rent is Rs. 720 then total rent of the field will be Rs. 3250.
